(2 Corinthians 6:1-2)
The grace of God has been given for all people to be able to come to Christ when and if they accept God’s grace. The invitation is open to all mankind, but it is up to each and every person to accept God’s inviting grace and so be saved from their sins through His grace.
The great thing about the grace of God is that it does not fade or go away. His grace is always there and ready so that we may receive His salvation. His grace is a constant and it both saves and forgives when we fall.
But we must first accept His grace, which we are able to do only by coming to God through Jesus Christ. God’s grace was made available and salvation made possible only by the sacrifice of Jesus. It is through Christ that God’s grace is made effective in our lives and understanding how His grace works through Christ is an important part of our walk.
When Do We Receive Grace?
This scripture is very clear about the timing of God’s grace for us. It says,
1 Working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain. 2 For he says, “At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation.” Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:1-2)
Paul sets a time when we may receive God’s grace and His salvation. And that time is…NOW!
As you look at this you see the power of this for those who are in Christ.
Are you have difficulty? Are you suffering? Are you struggling against sin or the passions of your flesh? Are you being attacked or opposed by the devil?
Do not fear these things or be worried about them because the day of salvation when you will receive the grace of God to see you through is NOW. His help is there when we need it.
Does this mean we will not go through trails and difficulties? No, it does not. We need to go through such things as these test our faith and make us stronger. But at the same time we must remember that God is with us NOW to help us and see us through these things.
He allows these things to happen so that we do grow strong and so that we learn how to deal with such things. But at the same time He is with us always, watching, overseeing and helping us as we go through times of difficulty. As we are told in this scripture:
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
So you see here that God is faithful and He does not leave us when we are suffering the trials and tests of temptation. Instead He provides the ability to endure because we must still go through these things for strengthening, but He also ensures we are not tested to the point of breaking. God provides the way of escape to endure.
Now Is The Day Of Salvation
This last scripture also backs up the one under review today, for it is evidence of how God helps us in our struggles.
We see that 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, “At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation.”
He watches us always and thus He is watching us in the time we call NOW. But when He speaks of the acceptable time, this is evidence that He watches as we go through our struggles, stepping in when it is necessary to prevent us falling or failing. He provides His salvation through grace as we look to Jesus Christ for strength an
d we lean on Him through prayer and supplication to lead us to the resolution we need.
And this power of salvation by grace in Jesus Christ is there always. It was there two thousand years when Christ died for us, and nothing has diminished the strength and the power of God’s grace since then. It shines as strong and as effective today as it always has and always will.
When we look to Jesus Christ today, in the NOW, we receive His saving grace. So let us come to Him today, right NOW and receive the grace because NOW is the day of salvation.
