The last of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control. The purpose of the work of the Holy Spirit and walking in the Spirit is to bring us to a place where we are in control of ourselves.
Humanity often falls prey to the passions, lusts, desires, and emotions of the flesh, and these things lead to sinfulness.
But when we have self-control we can overcome and have victory over the flesh through the power of the Spirit.
