Kingdom of God versus Kingdom of Man

This world we live in with all of its rules and regulations, sin and evil will be completely changed when the kingdom of God is established. The Kingdom of God will be totally different from what we see today.

Consider the scripture where the authorities of the time sought to condemn Paul and Silas and others. They dragged one of the believers before the authorities crying out about, “…these men who have turned the world upside down…” (Acts 17:6) This is quite a good description of what the Kingdom of God will be like as compared to the Kingdom of man.

If you consider other scriptures it becomes evident that what is deemed valuable and important in the eyes of men is meaningless in the sight of God. The reverse is also true. Consider the following verses: “Do you not know friendship with the world is enmity with God?” (James 4:4), and referring to Jesus, “Come to him, that living stone, rejected by men but in God’s sight chosen and precious…” (1 Peter 2:4)

So what are the things that people in this world look up to or consider valuable? The number one thing is probably money, at least in the western world and more and more in other places too. But what does the bible say of money? “The love of money is the root of all evils.” (1 Timothy 6:10) Think also about some of the occupations today that are highly esteemed in the sight of mankind: Doctors, lawyers, judges, politicians, bankers and the like. And also some of the other occupations that are considered worthy like policing and nursing.

In the kingdom of God none of these occupations will even exist. There will be no sin, no evil, no sickness or death and God himself will rule the kingdom. All of those occupations mentioned above will come to nothing and cease to exist. Many others too will no longer be needed either, as many of the world’s institutions are no longer required. Prisons and hospitals will no longer be needed and so they will not need staffing. Death will be no more so the undertaking and associated trades will cease, as cemeteries will disappear. When there are no thieves we won’t need banks or even locks on doors so locksmiths will be a thing of the past. Insurance companies will be no more, so all of the occupations associated with them will disappear.

The description of what Paul and Silas were doing by turning the world as we know it upside down, is an excellent description of what the Kingdom of God will be like as compared to the world today. And I have not even looked at the impact on the removal of all forms of sin. No violence, no gambling, no cigarettes, drugs and hard liquors to destroy relationships, no adultery, prostitution, murder or mayhem, no terrorists, no con men and the list goes on and on.

Yes, it will be quite a different world to the one we know today. And despite the obvious benefits, man will not want to change. Men will fight vigorously against it, which is why the Lord tells us in Revelation 19:15 that, “…he will rule them with a rod of iron.” When a people are obedient and willing to follow, they do not need to be ruled with a rod of iron. The rod is used to discipline the undisciplined and those who fight against the ways of the Lord, which will occur until all forms of evil are removed from the Kingdom of God.

And the primary reason why the world is the way it is today is because God does not rule it today. The bible clearly shows that Satan rules this world, as Jesus indicates in John 12:31, 14:30 and 16:11. Furthermore we see Satan tempted Jesus with “…all the kingdoms of the world,” and all the authority and glory of them for they, “…have been delivered to me (Satan) and I give it to whom I will.” (Luke 4:5-6)

When we see the removal of Satan’s rule and all forms of wickedness from this earth, then we will see the Kingdom of God established and his rule based upon love, peace and truth.
